KIU Hosts Ms. Faithy Ngaira from Mastercard Foundation to Highlight Postgraduate Scholarships at Edinburgh University

KIU, Main Campus - On Monday, July 22, 2024, Kampala International University (KIU) welcomed Ms. Faithy Ngaira, the International Recruitment Manager from the Mastercard Foundation at Edinburgh.

Ms. Ngaira shared exciting information about postgraduate scholarships available at Edinburgh University through the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program for KIU students.

During her presentation, she detailed the different Online and On-campus scholarship options.

She noted that the online scholarships are aimed at recent graduates of undergraduate programs, individuals seeking to enhance their professional lives with top-class academic qualifications, and those who have returned to Africa after studying abroad and wish to continue their education while working.

"These scholarships are designed to support the academic and professional advancement of students, particularly those from underrepresented groups such as women, refugees, and individuals with disabilities," Ngaira explained.

She emphasized that while the scholarships are inclusive, they especially welcome these groups.

Ngaira adds that some of the benefits of the On-Campus Postgraduate Scholarship include tuition, accommodation, visa fees, a monthly stipend, leadership workshops, mentoring, and reflection, among others.

Applications for the 2025 program will open in October 2024 at 5 pm UK time. Successful applicants will receive support for their chosen degree program applications and will need to provide an academic or professional reference as part of their application.

Eligibility criteria include having completed an undergraduate degree with a final certificate and transcript, meeting the minimum entry requirements for the chosen degree program, and being nationals living in sub-Saharan African countries.

Masters applicants should not hold or be planning to complete another graduate/postgraduate degree, although PG-Diploma applicants can have either an undergraduate or Master's degree from a sub-Saharan African university.

On behalf of KIU, Dr. Mundu Mustafa, the Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research, Innovation, Consultancy, and Extension (ADVC-RICE), expressed his sincere gratitude to Ms. Ngaira and the Mastercard Foundation for presenting these invaluable opportunities to KIU students and encouraged all Top Universities in Uganda eligible students to apply.
